A few hours break

The holiday and the break from everything this year lasted few hours in Bratislava. I got off the train from Prague and followed my instinct to the city centre. The aim was to have a beer and lunch. I let myself go and had two beer and a very big lunch.
After the two beers I realized Bratislava was an ok city.
The haze of two beers brought a whole new perspective on it. First there was the commercial about giving yourself freedom. It was about a credit card that supposedly gave you freedom. Cynism set in.
Not that is a terrible city, it can never be compared to Prague. Although, it seems to strive to be it, but it can't. It has a charm of its own albeit bearing that sad saying known to all south Slavs 'the southern you go the sadder it gets'. On the one hand, it is a harbinger of sadness on the other a minstrel of alternative joy making the best of its communist past and its shady joining of the EU. A cute, creative, youth appealing hub for the eastern Europeans and the Balkans.
This city is highly recommendable as a city break with the budget airlines or as a lovely place to spend two or three days while exploring eastern Europe. I'm sure you are aware that the surroundings are mesmerizingly green in summer and have a lot to offer especially if you are of the hiking and biking type.
