This might not be about food
It is a split of a second when you realize all that you've feared is true. That you are a foreigner in your own country. That you are a stranger to the land that has raised you, that has provided your childhood and youth and educated you to some extent.
It is like a long-term relationship decided in a blink. Despite the years you've spent together you realize you weren't meant for each other. Who knows what the parting will look like. Perhaps, like so many old and odd couples you'll decide to stick together for the sake of something, future generations or whatever thing that turned you on.
It's a moment of blissful epiphany. It is the 20+ euro bill in a local pub, it is the a bit unnerving experience on the bus, the random radio programme that does not include religion or nudity, the news on the telly that talk about different types of scandals, the alarming poverty of everything body, mind and soul that tell you you live in a parallel universe. It is that same moment that warns you that you should protect that private state of being sane for your own sake and for the sake of others.
It is scary, pessimistic and a bit on the edge. Yet it is motivating, for changes begin within oneself, don't they?
