Mediterranean Scandinavian

Sundays by default are for family. Sundays are for friends. On a snowish Sunday I called my friend and suggested lunch. She agreed. I got the meat she got the potatoes.

It was late in the afternoon when we started cooking. She prepared the potatoes and I prepared the meat. We spiced up the cooking with a nice chat on consumerism and the atrocities it causes. Another spice was the fairness/unfairness of life and the world. Lost in chatter, we nearly failed to notice the lovely scent of home-made Croatian olive oil and almost forgot to taste the Macedonian honey which we used for the meat. We were only brought into a world of our own by a Royksopp song "What else is there?" Indeed, for an hour we really pondered on the question what else is there besides consumerism, confusing relationships, misunderstood people and never enough wine in the bottle to last you a dinner and a dessert, so you always need an extra bottle of dessert wine to serve with the dessert.

It wasn't before long that we were brought back by the lovely scent of the olive oil and the cozy sweet taste of the baked meat....Long after we had finished the last bite of meat and potato or carrot the scent teased us just like sparks. The soundtrack was mainly Royksopp.

Remind me, Scandinavian is good, Mediterranean is good.
