An Experiment with a Danish

After a tough week and a hazy Friday cooking seems to be the perfect way to start the weekend.

One Saturday morning I opened my eyes and I started hating the world immediately. Reality seemed lame, the virtual world even worse. Lazily I checked all my accounts, none of which offered anything inspiring or thought provoking. Desperate as I was I turned to my comfort place on the Internet the recipes blogs and sites and I came across a nice Danish roll recipe, perfect for breakfast. I read the description and decided not to fully follow the recipe but to experiment a bit with it.

So instead of 170 g of cream cheese i used 200g, also I added 5 and1/2 tbs of sugar and I used a whole egg and not just the yolk as it was proposed. I mixed the yolk and the cream cheese and 4 tbs of sugar. In a different bowl i mixed the white with 1 and1/2 tbs sugar until it turned really white and puffy. Then I mixed it into the cream cheese mixture and added almost a tsp of Cinnamon powder.

Meanwhile I defrosted the puff pastry in the microwave and spread it out on the table. As it was shown later obviously I hadn't spread it enough, but hopefully next time I'll do it in a proper kitchen and not in my makeshift kitchen:). I put the spread in the middle and cut fringes on both sides of the pastry and braided them over the spread. Brushed it with egg and sprinkled with sugar and Cinnamon

25 minutes later and 220 C degrees more it was ready a bit open and leaking in the middle but it looked OK, and the taste wasn't that bad.

Now I'm taking some to the grand jury to see what they think of it.
