Pero's Salty Almonds



I love guests that bring their own drinks, that feel like at home wherever they go. I love people who are willing to make a quick snack at your place when you're just too lazy to do it. 

One Tuesday night I had my friends over and leftover almonds. Being too lazy to buy some crackers and munchies the only thing I had to offer were the almonds. Of course they were plain almonds no salt whatsoever. Dissatisfied with the taste Pero took the almonds put them in a baking pan washed them thoroughly, covered them with a considerable amount of salt and put them in the microwave for quick baking. Every 2 minutes we heard the 'pling' because Pero was stirring the almonds. After 5-6 ' plings' the almonds were ready to be served. 

Now we were left with one more problem. Almonds are an excellent snack with alcohol such as whiskey or cognac. Therefore the problem was what to drink. It's January and my alcohol stash is at its lowest, I don't have whiskey nor good cognac. There are only leftovers scattered trough the fridge. Finally I managed to find a bottle of homemade cognac. I must say it was an excellent combination with the almonds.
